Embassy / Consulate Account - KYC Checklist

Entity proof (mandatory)

  • Approval letter received from Ministry of External Affairs for opening of the Embassy/Consulate in India
  • Screen printout of the website of embassy/division proving the existence. Screen print of GOI website providing the list of Embassies. Refer http://meaprotocol.nic.in/
  • Permanent Account Number (PAN) in the Name of Embassy / Consulate Account

Address proof (Any one)

  • Utility bill in the name of the customer (not more than 2 months old from the application date)
  • Bank statement should be 2 months old from date of application(signed & stamped by bank official on each page of the statement
  • Registered Rent agreement if any

Other documents (mandatory)

  • Letter signed by the Ambassador stating intention to open the account and the account operating instructions
  • Letter from the Embassy/Consulate in India confirming address of the authorized signatory of the account

  • Copy of RBI permission
  • Copy of other recognised regulator permission (if applicable)
  • Certificate of Incorporation and company formation documents (as applicable in respective country) duly notarized by Indian embassy/ notary public in country of Registration. If COI and company formation documents are in other than English language, then English version of certificate of Incorporation and company formation documents must be attested by Indian embassy/ notary public in the country of registration. All copies should be certified as “True and Updated Copy” & attested by Company Secretory or director of foreign company.

Registered address- mandatory

  • Latest Annual Return if registered Address is different from that mentioned on the certificate of Incorporation or any government issued document confirming the registered address
